Operating Principle



This revolutionary new centrifuge design concept delivers the ultimate control for the drying of delicate salad leaves, standard lettuce varieties, prepared vegetables and delicate herbs. The drum has a completely smooth inner surface without a central axle or other contact parts which could directly damage the product. The patented drive with magnetic bearing support delivers an almost silent operational sequence cycle. The product to be dried is very gently delivered into the drum during its slow revolution sequence. This infeed system ensures the minimal movement of the product as it is layered equally over the whole circumference of the centrifuge drum. On completion of the filling cycle the drum accelerates to the pre-set optimal rotating speed to suit the specific product to be dried, when the timed spin cycle, which is also variable in conjunction with the rotational speed is completed the drum automatically slows down and the product very gently gravitates to the discharge conveyor. During this part of the production cycle the centrifuge drum turns very slowly and activates a high pressure air knife which cleans all residual particles of leaf out of the drum. The continuous production cycle immediately continues without interruption and the infeed charge conveyor re-fills the drum. The unique construction of the centrifuge minimizes product damage because of the spacious drum dimension and the controlled layer thickness of the product which eliminates product pressure during the spin cycle. The centrifuge can be supplied in two dimensions, the SC-740 and the SC-940. There are facilities for 20 operational product programmes in the control panel.

Centrifuge




The Sormac centrifuge type HS will remove free standing water from the leaf surface. This leafy vegetable centrifuge is for smaller capacities.

Operating principle
The Sormac HS Centrifuge will remove free standing water from the leaf surface. The basket with product is placed in the centrifuge, the lid closed and the machine will start. After a pre-set time the machine will stop, the lid can be opened, the dewatered product can be removed. The machine can be supplied with the option of an adjustable timer. In the HS-Flex execution the rotation speed is adjustable between 250 and 850 rpm. The centrifugation time can also be set by means of a timer. When the basket turns, the lid is blocked. Because the drum slowly starts and stops, this execution is particularly suitable for sensitive product. In addition, can be chosen for a turning function. In this case the rotation direction changes during the process so that the leaf can be even better dewatered The centrifuge is mounted on 4 adjustable feet that also function as absorbers for the spinning vibration. It is not necessary to fix the centrifuge to the floor.

Vegetable washing machine





The Sormac leafy vegetable washer is suitable for both sliced and diced leaf as well as vegetables. This washer is also suitable for baby leaf.

Operating principle
The Sormac vegetable washer type GWM is designed for both sliced and diced leaf and vegetables. Inside the wash tank the product is intensely washed and due to the turbulent water flow mixed and transported along the length of the wash tank. The product is over-flumed out of the wash tank onto the vibratory de-watering screen (1.000 mm length) (39"), where it is sprayed off with fresh water. It is gently transported forward removing the excess water. All water passing through the de-watering screen is cleaned through a static sieve, mounted on top of the water holding tank directly below the vibratory screen. The filtered water is then re-circulated around the wash. The electrical panel has switches for the water pump as well as the vibratory screen. There are valves mounted in the pipe-work from the pumps. These can adjust the flow through the system dependent on products being washed and retention time required. The water level is automatically controlled by sensors. The GWM washer is completely built in stainless steel and piping is seam welded. Where applicable, connected with hygienic fittings.

REVOLVER PEELER CRR 25/250

A roller peeler with a number of peeling rollers which form an elongated drum. This vegetable peeler is especially suitable for small products like e.g. baby carrots


OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The Sormac revolver roller peeler type CRR consists of a number of peeling rollers: forming an elongated drum. The drum and rollers rotate separately and have independent adjustable speed control through a series of heavy duty V-belts. Each roller is has a double bearing arrangement and can be dismantled very quickly by virtue of an unique clamping device (loosening of expander arrangements at drive and discharge ends). The stability of the drum makes it possible to keep the distance between the rollers very small. Side access for cleaning and maintenance to the peeler is gained through large side doors on either side of the machine. The retention time in the peeler is controlled by means of a horizontal auger screw. There are two separate water spray systems, which apply water to either the outer side of the roller drum or internally through the axle of the auger screw on the inside of the roller peelers. The motors are build in a separate and hygienic compartment above the peeling area.

SCREW DE-STONER SO 50/250-R, SO 50/250-C

Screw de-stoners covering a wide range of products such as potatoes, carrots, celeriac and red beets. 


OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The screw de-stoner can be used in conjunction with all root crops. The integration of this system into a processing line dramatically reduces the potential for extreme wear and tear to associated equipment further along the installation. The screw de-stoner is constructed with a rectangular reception hopper with a vertical transport screw. The screw is driven by a reduction gearbox. The circular water filled hopper receives the product to be de-stoned and in combination with the rotational action of the vertical screw auger draws the water and crop gently up the tube supported by the regular closed screw. For a better separation of the sand out off polluted products, also a round reception hopper with cone can be used. The rotational action raises the product allowing the water to gravitate down the side of the auger. Heavy particles with negative buoyancy fall back into the base of the circular hopper where they can be collected for removal through an inspection door. Clean product (without stones) are transported out off the upper side of the transport screw.

BELT SLICER BSM-150

The Sormac belt slicer type BSM-150 can process a wide range of vegetables with products. The BSM-150/L version makes it possible to provide the machine with a preparation table for 4 persons. These vegetable processing machines are multi-functional.


OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The Sormac belt slicer type BSM-150 is especially suitable for slicing leaf salad and vegetables such as lettuce, salad onions, cabbage, leeks, beans and most elongated type products with a maximum width of 150 mm (5,9") and a transfer height of maximum 130 mm (5,1"). The standard machine is executed with a belt length of 650 mm (26") and can optionally be executed with a movable preparation table for 2 persons. The version BSM-150/L has a belt length of 1.450 mm (57") and makes it possible to provide the machine with a preparation table for 4 persons. By using turning rollers with a small diameter the product will be supported up to the knives. Together with an excellent knife quality this contributes to a high cutting quality. The blade and belt speeds are controlled by a touch screen making the machine extremely product friendly i.e. for soft products the blade can run very slow to avoid product damage in conjunction with belt speed to achieve the desired throughput. Cutting lengths can be set on a digital display. In standard execution the belt slicer is equipped with a touch screen and casters.
